Global Inequality Solutions challenge

Turning insights into action

The world is not an equal place. Across countries and communities, widening gaps in income, wealth, and opportunity have become one of the defining challenges of our time. These divides shape everything from economic mobility to political trust, slowing human progress and eroding the social fabric.

In the Public-Private Solutions to Global Inequality course at the Munk School, students spend the semester examining the forces behind these disparities — including technological disruption, climate change, labor markets, global supply chains, and shifting governance models — and exploring how public, private, and civic actors can work together to build more equitable, fair, and resilient economies.

Working in teams, they develop bold, evidence-based proposals to address real-world inequality problems in specific countries or sectors. These proposals showcase not only creativity and analytical rigor, but also the belief that students can play a direct role in shaping a global economy that works better for everyone.
